On the Plot Today...Hedge Love

I love the mixed hedgerow surrounding our plot.  It has been here for about 100 years.

In our hedges, oak, hawthorn, beech, elder, holly, yew, Canadian vine, perennial sweet pea, dog roses and honeysuckle grow...

The hedges provide shelter for birds and other wildlife. This week we had a flock of long-tailed tits  using it for cover as they explored the garden.

The sweet pea and honeysuckle climb up through the hedge and reward us with beautiful colour and scent.

The rain may be killing my bean plants, but the hedge is thriving. Let's hope it survives a 100 more years!
