Get More Herbs for Your Money!

One of my best bargains was a group of fruit plants.  They were crammed five to a pot and two were dead but three good ones survived.   The pot had a full-price sticker on it and was not reduced.  I asked the assistant  for their best price and got myself a bargain 20% off!  Back home, I repotted them, grew them on and a year on they are thriving in my soft fruit collection and I have three strong gooseberry, raspberry and blackcurrant bushes.

If you don't ask, you don't get! that's my policy, so it is worth asking. This time it worked, but I am not always so lucky.   If you don't ask you will never know, will you?

Look at these herbs I bought for 89p each in a supermarket.  They often sell them in the food isles.   I use them for cooking and freeze some for later (in ice-trays with a bit of water).  The plants have regrown and are waiting to be planted out in the herb garden.

I keep bags of these herb ice-cubes in the freezer to add to sauces and casseroles.  The frozen basil will make great pesto for our DIY pizza's... That's not bad for a couple of cheap pots of herbs.
