Easy Fish Puppets!

These are made from polystyrene fish.  We made ours on a wet day, on holiday beside the seaside!  Our children and their cousins love crafting together and traditionally we take a big bag of Things to Do in case the British weather is poor.

Don't have any polystyrene fish?
Make your own cardboard fish instead, cut out from a cereal packet and stuck on to a skewer ... Decorate with felt-tip pens, pencil or wax crayons.

Fancy a bit of bling?
Glue feathers, ribbon, diamante jewels or sequins on your fish for a glitzy, superstar(fish) look!

Materials
  • Polystyrene fish (but you could make some out of cardboard)
  • Wooden skewers
  • Acrylic Deco pens (We used glass and porcelain pens)  *See below for UK stockists.

Decorate the fish and push skewers into the body.

It's show time :) What d'you think Fishy?

Simple things are sometimes the most fun...
This is a simple project, but the kids enjoyed hours of fun making the fish, then planning and putting on plays for the grown-ups.

UK Stockists
Wooden skewers can be bought from local food stores and the Internet.
Baker Ross and Yellow Moon sell polystyrene fish and recommend Acrylic Deco Pens. (We used glass and porcelain pens which worked fine.)

Have you made something like this with your children and been surprised by their enthusiasm? Share your stories with us as we would love to know!

Thank you for reading my blog. Have a lovely day and see you again soon :)
