Update on the Plot!

The vegetables have been great this year.  We have eaten a succession of peas, beans, courgettes, cucumbers, carrots, beetroot and lettuce.  Pumpkins, potatoes and sweetcorn are ready to harvest and the kale and parsnips are maturing nicely.

Earlier in the Summer, we enjoyed a bumper crop of soft-fruit and now we are enjoying apples, blackberries and damsons.  In the kitchen I am making apple pies, damson muffins, beetroot brownies, fruit crumbles, Eve's pudding and apple scones.

In the garden, the flowers are still flowering and attracting bees and butterflies. By a stroke of luck, a muntjack deer cut through our garden to get to the fields the other side and we had a great view of it crossing our garden.

You know the Summer is over when the kids go back at school.  My Husband and his parents are competing with hospital appointments, so I am juggling the young and old, crisscrossing the county every day with a list of who is going where.  I have nightmares about turning up with Granny to netball practice and sending Grandad off to Scout camp.   Long may it continue!

Enjoy your weekend and thank you for reading  my Blog:)
